Indian Aerospace: Flying the Flag for the Future

04 July 2012

In June 2012, SAE International and the Performance Review Institute collaborated to hold educational symposia in Hyderabad, a defence hub, and Bangalore, where a lot of civil aviation work takes place.

With invaluable local support from Dr. Bala Bharadvaj from The Boeing Company, there were nearly 200 attendees present to learn about aerospace standards, global regulations and new aerospace technology standards from SAE International representatives including Chief Executive Officer Dr. David Schutt and Mr. Ed Manns, Manager, Aerospace Standards.

Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Performance Review Institute, Mr. Joe Pinto, then described the importance of standardized aerospace special process and product assessment through the industry-managed Nadcap program.

Mr. Pinto commented “This was a valuable activity for PRI. As a global organization, it is vital that we reach out to aerospace industry stakeholders around the world to ensure that we are continuing to understand and meet their needs. By working with SAE International, and with assistance from local experts, we are well positioned to achieve these objectives. On a personal note, I was thrilled to see so many delegates asking questions – in fact, we ran out of time at the end. Their enthusiasm and interest in continual improvement through standards and assessment was inspiring.”
