Nadcap: Not For The Reasons You Would Think

It has long been thought that the principal driver behind aerospace suppliers obtaining Nadcap accreditation was customer mandates. Many aerospace Primes have made it clear that Nadcap is now a pre-requisite to doing business with them.

Yet a web poll conducted in January 2013 by the Performance Review Institute – the not-for-profit organisation that administers Nadcap – shows that, although the majority of the 249 respondents do cite “customer mandate” as their reason for pursuing accreditation, a significant minority provided other reasons. 40% of the respondents cited improving quality as their main driver, while others indicated commercial reasons for achieving Nadcap accreditation such as to attract new business or remain competitive.
